πŸ“• Create a Curriculum – Part 1: Building the Layout

Learn how to create the structure of a curriculum in XO Scheduler, including days, topics, and scheduling strategies.

Updated over 3 months ago

🌟A curriculum is the foundation of every training class in XO Scheduler. Without a curriculum, you cannot plan or schedule any sessions. In this first part of our series, we’ll walk through building a curriculum layout, including day types, topics, and strategies for automatic scheduling.

πŸŽ₯ Video Tutorial: Curriculum Layout

πŸ“This video shows how to build a new curriculum layout step by step.

πŸ“Έ Disclaimer: Screenshots and videos may look slightly different from your XO Scheduler interface depending on your version or configuration.

πŸ› οΈ Step-by-Step Guide

We’ll use a B747 Three-Day Recurrent Training as our example (like in the video)

1) Create a new curriculum

  1. Go to the Curriculum page.

  2. Right-click β†’ Create Curriculum.

  3. Fill in properties (use presets if available).

    • Example: Name β†’ B747 Three-Day Recurrent, Training Type β†’ Recurrent.

2) Define training days

  • Day 1: Fixed start times.

    • Add topic: Human Factors, 08:00–12:00 (240 minutes).

    • Add topic: Ground School, 14:00–16:00 (120 minutes).

  • Day 2: Flexible start times.

    • Add topics: Briefing (90 min), Simulator (240 min), Debriefing (60 min).

    • Give the simulator a distinct color in the Gantt chart.

  • Day 3: Duplicate Day 2, then rename it.

3) Set Turn Time and Next Training Day

  • Turn Time: Minimum rest between training days (e.g., 720 minutes = 12 hours).

  • Next Training Day: Define required breaks (e.g., min 1 day, max 3 days).

4) Save the curriculum

Click Save to store your layout.

πŸ’‘ Pro Tips

  • Use presets: Save time by reusing standard property values.

  • Color-code topics: Helps visualize training days on the Gantt chart.

  • Always define Turn Time: Prevents back-to-back scheduling that ignores rest.
